If we must attain a higher and better version of ourselves, personal transformation is NON-NEGOTIABLE.  Let me start by clarifying that personal transformation in this context means a complete change in the way we presently see and do things in order to achieve better results in life. This transformation may be in our health, relationships, finances, or in any other area where change is needed.

Personal transformation requires DISCIPLINE and CONSISTENCY. Many begin the journey but quit as soon as they hit a roadblock or make a mistake. Unknown to them, life will test your resolve for change by bringing up obstacles, delays or unpleasant circumstances. Your ability to get up and keep trying after each setback is what determines whether you achieve your goals or not.

Here are five powerful keys to achieving personal transformation.

  1. MAKE A DECISION:

James 1: 8 – A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.

It will surprise you that many people who complain about their lives. have never made a firm decision to transform their lives. You must decide what area of your life you want to change, and what your expectations are. Strong desire is a powerful spiritual force in achieving transformation. You must be willing to take the necessary steps and make the sacrifices (which may not always be pleasant) to achieve your desires.

  • SET A GOAL:

Ps 37:5 – Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him and he shall bring it to pass.

After you have made a decision to change any area of your life, the next step is to set a goal. A goal should be specific, measurable, time-bound and also realistic. I often encourage people to set goals which stretch their faith and would be difficult to achieve without the help of God. Have your goals written down and endeavor to read it through often. This will help impress it upon your mind and enable you keep track of progress.

Once your goal has been set, identify steps which can be taken to achieve your goal. I recommend breaking down your big goals into manageable sizes or mile stones per time. For instance if your goal is to save $12,000 each year, you may wish to break it down to savings of $250 per week. A small goal is less threatening and will keep you motivated, while you still have your eye on the big goal. You will be amazed to realize someday that all your small goals put together, have helped you arrive at your destination. Bear in mind, that there will be times when you fail to meet your set goals; rather than quit, put yourself together and pick up from where you stopped.

  • MIND YOUR MIND:

Romans 12:2 – And be not conformed to this world: but be ye TRANSFORMED by the renewing of your MIND, that ye may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

This is one of the most important keys to achieve any kind of transformation. No transformation is possible in your life without a shift in your mindset. You cannot be rich with a poor mindset, neither can you be healthy with a mind filled with thoughts of sickness. The most powerful way to transform your mind is through constant repetition of knowledge and ideas about your desired state. For instance, 2 years ago, I was diagnosed with peptic ulcer after I complained about sharp pain in my stomach. I decided that I was not going to let that information settle in my mind. As soon as I got home from the hospital, I began listening to healing scriptures. I would have the recordings on through out the night, even while I slept. (Several audio healing scriptures are available online) Within 2 days, the pains had disappeared and I was completely healed. I have not had the slightest pain ever since.  I literally reprogrammed my mind with the word of God and therefore quickly received my healing! For any area which you want transformation, locate scriptures which address that area and continue to meditate on them until you experience a shift in your beliefs. This new belief will ultimately lead to new results. This is the most important step in achieving transformation.

  • ENGAGE THE POWER OF PRAYERS:

James 5:16b – The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

God answers prayers! There are some areas in our lives which we simply cannot transform by our physical efforts. Prayer is a system that has been put in place by God to secure supernatural intervention in our affairs.  Prayer changes things and empowers us to achieve all our goals. A prayerless person is limited as he cannot access the power of God to change his life. For instance in dealing with addictions, sometimes therapy alone lacks the power to break its hold over a person’s life. However through the power of the Holy Spirit every form of addiction can be broken. I declare the power of addiction, broken in the life of every reader in Jesus name!

  • STAY IN FAITH:

Mark 9:23 – Jesus said unto him, if thou canst believe, ALL things are possible to him that believeth.

Faith is a spiritual currency used to secure your desired breakthroughs and transformation. Without faith it is impossible to achieve personal transformation. Your ability to keep trying even after you get knocked down requires strong faith. The starting point however is to have faith in God and the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross. You can build a relationship with God and grow your faith through regular study of the bible, prayers and church attendance. Please if you are yet to do this, do take a minute to invite Jesus Christ into your life now. This is the Foundation of any lasting and meaningful transformation.

Take these 5 steps and your transformation is GUARANTEED.
